My Name is Khatri is a unique documentary film about my parents, the Khatris, and their triumph, disappointment, anticipation, and struggle in immigrating to the US. Their journey to come to America is an epic one across many lands and peoples – India, Pakistan, and Nigeria. This film is unique in that it not only covers their story, but also sheds valuable insight on the socio-political situations in these countries from the early 1930s to late 1960s, simultaneously using politics in the US during these years as a frame of reference.
